Transporting alternative energies

Rennies Transport is proud to be a transporter of solar panels for a "green iron" manufacturing plant. Dubbed the "green iron project"; this innovative manufacturing process uses renewable energies in the form of solar and wind energy power plant to fuel direct iron reduction process.

The power plant will mainly supply energy for the water electrolysis to produce the reduction agent hydrogen. The hydrogen is then transported into a furnace, where it reacts with the oxygen of the iron ore at ambient pressure to become water again. This water is reused in the process while raw iron remains.

This is the first industrial production of iron at net zero emissions based on this reduction technology in Namibia. It is expected this plant will soon be one of the biggest primary production sites of green iron worldwide. Already at this stage, the project is expected to avoid 27,000 CO₂ emissions per year, equivalent to 50% of the CO₂ emissions of Namibia’s power industry.

Rennies Tranport is transporting a large shipment of solar panels packed in 25 x 40" foot containers from Walvis Bay. Woker Freight Services took care of the customs clearance and import procedures for the solar panels.
