The Peace Boat calls on Walvis Bay

Posted: 20 May 2024Category: Operations

It's been a busy couple of months for the Ocean Liner Services team who had to attend to various vessels from passenger liners, to tankers and other cargo vessels. One of the notable cruise liners, OLS attended to was the Peace Boat. This 15 deck vessel accommodates some 1,400 passengers and 700 crew members.

The Peace Boat is an international non-governmental organisation headquartered in Japan. It was established in 1983 with the mission of promoting peace, human rights, sustainable development, and respect for the environment through global educational voyages. The Peace Boat operates a passenger liner that travels around the world, providing educational programs, cultural exchanges, and advocacy activities aimed at building a more peaceful and sustainable world.

This cruise liner has made a number of calls on the Port of Walvis Bay in the past. OLS successfully managed the operations and husbandry needs of the passenger liner before she departed for Las Palmas. This included coordinating visas, organising transfers, and deploying dedicated agents to meet the ship's diverse needs. The company also made use of Walvis Bay Stevedoring to supply equipment and manpower for gangway placement and garbage disposal.
