Behind the bustling work and cargo flows, staff members of the various Manica divisions have been participating in weekly mystery challenges as part of Manica Group Namibia's 100th anniversary celebrations. The staff members follow a special advent activities calendar for the next couple of weeks up to 1 October 2024. The calendar contains different mystery challenges.
One of these challenges included visiting a school and telling the learners about the careers in logstics. In Luderitz the Luderitz Bay Shipping & Forwarding Team told the learners of Lüderitz Secondary School about their jobs and offered career guidance to grade 9, 10 and 11 learners. The also touched on CATS Namibia programme (Commercial Advancement Training Scheme) , vessel agency, marine bunkering and retail fuel, admin and finance and clearing and forwarding.
This happened to coincide perfectly with a project that one of learner had received about future careers, and learnign about logistics and supply chain management was an eye-opener. The learners and teacher alike were intrigued by the logistics industry. The school thanked Manica for its "commitment towards our future leaders".
In Walvis Bay, the Rennies Consolidated team took learners of Kuisebmond Secondary School on a tour of the warehousing and cargo handling facilities.
